Dear Rotarians and Friends: We have an exciting Rotary year ahead of us with a lot of goals and objectives if we are to make a difference in our communities and in our world. One of the things we do at the end of each Rotary year is to celebrate the accomplishments of all of you. That’s what we have in mind for our 2009 conference in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia Canada. One of the hallmarks of Rotary membership involves making friends with people from all walks of life. We are planning for a day of fellowship on April 30, the Thursday before the conference with all sorts of activities that celebrate all of us. I encourage you to register soon for some of these events as I suspect we may sell out quickly. We have a terrific venue for our annual meeting at the Victoria Conference Centre. All of our meeting activities will either be in the lecture theatre on the first level or upstairs at Carson Hall. In addition, we have incredible accommodations at the Fairmont Empress Hotel and the Marriott Inner Harbour. The Empress just went through a $10 million dollar renovation. The Marriott is the newest hotel next to the conference center and was recently named “Hotel of the Year.” The Empress’ world-class chefs will be preparing our meals. On top of all this, we may have a surprise or two up our sleeve. This will be a Family of Rotary event, so please bring your families to enjoy springtime in beautiful Victoria, Canada.
